Welcome to Gordon Preschool!
At Gordon Preschool we aim to provide an engaging child-centred learning environment encouraging inclusivity and respect in all relationships. In partnership with families and the wider community we endeavour to build children's sense of fun, belonging, confidence and independence. Our curriculum is based on 'The Early Years Learning Framework' which has been developed to ensure your child receives quality education programs in their early childhood setting. This is a vital time for them to learn and develop.
Play-based learning is described in the Early Years Learning Framework
Curriculum as 'a context for learning through which children organise and
make sense of their social worlds, as they actively engage with people,
objects and representations' (EYLF, 2009, p. 46).
We believe that pre-schoolers learn through exploring and discovering their surroundings, negotiating roles and responsibilities through imagination, socialising with each other, taking risks, creating meaning and solving problems through diverse hands – on activities. At Gordon Preschool, the children are involved in a wide variety of play based investigations throughout the day. They are involved in community events, celebrations, incursions, excursions and participating in kindergarten transition activities throughout the year.
Gordon Preschool was assessed as "Exceeding" in all areas of the National Quality Standards Assessment.
